Fashion Week and the end of an amazing journey in Milan

Our amazing journey in Milan is going to end in a few days and I already know that I will never forget the memories I created here.

Fashion Week and the end of an amazing journey in Milan

There were a lot of ups and downs but at the end of the day it was all worth it. Due to the semester abroad, we became more independent and experienced students with new friends from all over the world. In this blog you will find some highlights of the last weeks and a conclusion of our time at Istituto Marangoni in Milan.

Fashion Week in Milan

Milan Fashion Week took place from 19thFebruary to 25thFebruary and was an amazing experience for everyone who is interested in Fashion. We had the opportunity to take part at Fashion Shows and Fashion Events, which lead to a very busy schedule. Thus, I worked as a dresser in the backstage area for several brands, where I had to prepare the outfits and to dress the models. With a bit of luck, you can meet famous models or influencers like for example Bella Hadid or Chiara Ferragni at fashion shows and evening events. In general, the whole city is a place, where you can meet inspiring people from all over the world, who all share the same passion and love for the fashion industry. During this week we didn’t had any class, which was a huge relief, because I wanted to experience as much as possible. Nevertheless, it was still the most stressful week of the semester because I was on the go the whole day but also had to keep in mind that we had exams two weeks later.

Night life

Milan has also a lot to offer at night with several bars and clubs. A lot of young people come to the city especially for partying and therefore you can find everything from a relaxing rooftop bar to the craziest underground parties. I can personally recommend two rooftop bars which are called “Ceresio 7“ and “Radio Rooftop Bar”, where you can have nice Aperitive while having a look over the whole city. If you prefer clubbing and dancing, there are two very popular clubs, where you can also meet a lot of other students of Istituto Marangoni – this clubs are called “Rocket Club” and “Volt”. But keep in mind that there are always a lot of people who want to enter the clubs, therefore make sure that you register online on their guestlist and don’t forget your ID.

Feedback for the partner university Istituto Marangoni

Istituto Marangoni is the perfect place for everyone who is interested into Management in the Fashion Industry. Due to our experienced lecturers and highly practice-oriented lectures, we had the opportunity to deeply enter the world of fashion. All lecturers have a certain background in the fashion industry and many of them work for big brands like Versace or Dolce & Gabbana. In the second term we also did some excursions for example to the company “Ratti SpA”, which is a leading manufacturer of fabrics for international fashion brands like Alexander McQueen, Louis Vuitton or Hermès. Moreover, we also visited the “Armani Silos”, which is a museum about the fashion history of Armani and art.

It is also mentionable that the university offers a very good library, access to all Vogue editions and access to the website “WGSN”, which is an online service for trend forecasting and insider information of the fashion industry.

Conclusion

The Istituto Marangoni in Milan is the perfect place to deepen your knowledge about the fashion industry and to meet people who already work in it. It was definitely a good time and I go back to Germany with mixed feelings. I made a lot of new friends here and I feel lucky for all the opportunities I had. Nonetheless, I am excited to continue the studies at the Macromedia and to meet my fellow students in Germany.
